In an effort to meet an ever growing demand for additional pediatric beds, Miller Children’s Hospital renovated 15,500 SF to expand the existing pediatric unit. The challenge for the design team was to create an environment that would appeal to an age group of 4 to 17 years of age. The project adds 27 beds including 4 private, 10 semi-private and 3 negative pressure isolation rooms. The new space also includes a nurse station, family waiting area, physical rehabilitation training room, rehabilitation bathtub, staff lounge, and administrative spaces.
