On August 26th, 2009 Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian teamed up with the architecture firm TAYLOR and broke ground on their new Irvine facility. The Hoag Hospital Irvine is undergoing major renovations, including infrastructure and design upgrades. During design a conscious effort has been to be environmentally responsible, and to incorporate sustainable building practices such as energy use, air quality and recycled materials. The acute care hospital, with 154 beds, will offer inpatient and outpatient services as well as a fully staffed emergency department. Totaling 244,000 SF the design of the renovated Irvine facility encompasses its surroundings from a local perspective. Inspiration was taken from the Irvine Ranch, “Mountains to Sea Trail” and the interior design will showcase natural tones and will also incorporate photography taken along the 22 mile trail that provides a link from Hoag Hospital Irvine to Hoag’s Newport Beach campus.
